Reggie Paros began his career in Monroe County in 1977 as the Emergency
Medical Services Coordinator. From that position, he moved on to become the
Coordinator for Civil Defense in which position he was ultimately responsible for
disaster preparedness and response, In 1985, he was appointed the Director of
Emergency Medical Services for the County and assumed the responsibilities of
operating that program throughout the Keys, except in the City of Key West.
Reggie held that position until 1988 when he was appointed to be the Division
Director for Public Safety which includes Emergency Management, Emergency
Communications, Emergency Medical Services and Fire Rescue, In addition, he is the
staff liaison to the Upper Keys Trauma District and to a variety of health care facilities
and functions throughout the County, Reggie has held the position of Division Director
until this time and has been one of the most respected and productive long-term
employees in the County,
As a life-long County resident, Reggie Paros carries with him a deep and abiding
affection for Monroe County and its citizens, He has constantly striven to improve
services to the citizens and to respond to the mandates of the numerous County
Commissions and Administrators with whom he has served. We can only hope that this
is only the first 25 years of Reggie's tenure with the County.
Because of his service, his dedication to the community, and the respect and
admiration of the Board of County Commissioners and his coworkers, it is an honor to
recognize Reggie Paros for his 25 years with Monroe County government,
