ITEM BACKGROUND: Community Foundation is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and
since 1996 has awarded more than $31 million in grants and program services from Key Largo to
Key West through the generosity of its philanthropic partners. The Community Foundation
continues striving to collaborate with individuals, families, businesses, nonprofits, and civic leaders,
working together to build a vibrant and sustainable future for the entire Florida Keys.

Community Foundation of the Florida Keys 25th Anniversary
WHEREAS, the Florida Keys are filled with generous individuals who embrace the spirit
of charitable giving, take care of their neighbors, and help improve the lives of others;
and

WHEREAS, what started with a small group of citizens who had the vision of using
collective giving and collaboration to build a better future has grown into a trusted,
valued and well-established Keys community resource for philanthropy serving a wide
range of causes, including health and human services, education, environment, arts and
culture, animal welfare, and more; and
WHEREAS, our strong and unique Lower, Middle and Upper Keys communities are
fortunate to have the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys here, working every
day to connect people, resources, and needs through philanthropy and strengthen our
local nonprofits Keys-wide; and
WHEREAS, the Community Foundation has awarded more than $31 million in grants
and program services since 1996 through the generosity of its philanthropic partners
and has positively affected thousands of children, seniors, families, and those in need
from Key West to Key Largo; and
WHEREAS, the Community Foundation has also provided leadership and critical �i
assistance to our Monroe County residents in times of disaster, supplying relief from the
economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and recovery following natural disasters
like Hurricanes Irma and Wilma; and
WHEREAS, the Community Foundation is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and
will continue to collaborate with individuals, families, businesses, nonprofits, and civic
leaders who are working together to build a vibrant and sustainable future for the entire
Florida Keys;
NOW, THEREFORE, by this proclamation we hereby join in celebrating the
25th anniversary of the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys supporting the
generous giving spirit of the Keys and believing that through collective giving and
working together we are indeed building a better future In Paradise For Good.
