Since she was hired in 2015, she has had to coordinate moves for the Upper Keys Offices several times. After Irma she continued her great works with the county by putting aside personal damage to her home to help those in the community who she perceived were far worse off than she and her family were. She immediately connected with other agencies and helped foster connections for food and services which are still in place, to this day. These connections have been an invaluable piece of the ongoing Covid recovery that Social Services is able to offer all of Monroe County. After Irma, she fed hundreds, including employees who were struggling but still having to work to help us keep our community moving ahead. She made connections for furniture, repairs, food, personal care items and -- volunteers. All of this was accomplished while still performing her regular duties and all while she was recovering from her own storm-related damages. Much of the time this was done without adequate staffing levels. Now, during COVID, she is again feeding and providing services to the most vulnerable in our community. e She is leading the charge in her area to make sure no one is hungry, helping to connect them to services, supplies, etc. Currently, she is feeding 210 households at least once each week; 162 of them have residents over 60 years old. Lisset handles this all with so much grace and compassion. She is the one many turn to when they just do not know what to do or where their next meal will come from. Two weeks ago, she took delivery of the toys for tots, as she has done annually for many years. Many children had a little something under the tree this year, due to her efforts. Many, whose parents can barely afford to keep a roof over their family's heads, let alone do Christmas shopping, would have done without if it were not for Lisset's efforts. The opportunity for their children to receive a present is much T) more valuable to them than the cost of the present. Lisset has assembled and fostered a great team of our Social Services employees, and through her y efforts and support for other agencies, has now garnered the support of many of our other County y departments in her area. Everyone seems to be following her lead and they want to chip in and help. She is truly an inspiration. Lisset's efforts do not go unnoticed. She has had praise from other government officials, including Commissioners, City Council Members, Directors of other agencies, Women's organizations, the Rotary, MARC House, MCSO, and Fire Rescue. She truly deserves to have the recognition and admiration of our County leadership. She is a shining example of selflessness and pride in her work. Much of her personal recovery from damages sustained in Irma is still ongoing. She is always ready, willing, and able to do any task asked of her and she understands that this is often a thankless job but still makes it all happen for the benefit of the public and her clients. Lisset coordinated , everything with the restaurant to ensure the menu was senior-friendly and appropriate for their dietary needs/restrictions. Lisset and her staff went to the restaurant to discuss the menu with the chef, then to pick up the food, plated the food at our office, created little personalized notes for each of the seniors, and then delivered it. The benefactor was touched to tears and impressed so much with the work Lisset and our staff did that this generous individual wants to continue to be involved with assisting the homebound Upper Keys seniors in need in the future !! 1 wholeheartedly support the nomination and recommend Lisset Bautista for this honor.
