RE:
'AT LARGE' District Advisory Committee Appointment
The SOCC at their February 21, 2002 meeting directed the staff of the Monroe
County Tourist Development Council to draft a definition for the appointment of
the 'At Large' position within a District Advisory Committee. Staff brings forward
the following for your approval:
· 'AT LARGE' MEANS ANY RESIDENT WHO IS NOT DIRECTLY INVOLVED
IN A TOURISM BUSINESS AND WHO SHALL REPRESENT THE GENERAL
PUBLIC
The operative word within this description is directly. This word means someone
who is not in business, nor whose business or economic activity are 'dependent
upon tourists". The extent to which an applicant is involved in tourism would be
up to the discretion of the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners who
appoints the 'At Large' position.
