Dear Congressman Deutsch:
I would greatly appreciate you adding me as a cosponsor to H.R. 3878, which would
enable the residents of the: Bayshore Manor assisted Jiving facility in K.ey West, Flori~ to
continue to receive supplemental security benCflts under title XVI of the Social Security Act.
Baysbore MaDor. · COUDty-operated asSisted living community for the elderly, serves the
residents of Monroe County with both daytime stays and with residential services for those who
are unable to live independently but do not require 24-hour care. Under the current pl'OYisions of
Section 1611 (e)(]) of Title XVI of the Social Secwity ACt. Bayshorc Manor is Umited to 16
beds. H.R. 3878 would allow Baysbore Manor to increase the number ofbeds to 40 in order to
extend services to more oftbe 22,000 seniors in Monroe County. This facility fulfills a vita!
need for the elderly population of the county, and the addition of beds would lessen the long wait
that many seniors m'USt endure with only one assisted living community in the county.
Thank you for adding me as a cosponsor to this important bill which would help our
South Florida community immeasurably.
