He has since completed the firefighter minimum standards course and currently serves as Operations Shift Supervisor for the Fire/EMS system. Also, he has been instrumental in many of our service expansions and enhancements, including establishing a community training center program for CPR and automated external defibrillators. Al Brotons is being recognized as Employee of the Month for his tireless efforts behind the scenes in the establishment of the TraumaStar program. It took approximately two years from the beginning stages of equipping the helicopter, planning for the staffing requirements and training of the medical staff, to February 27, 2002, when the TraumaStar helicopter made its first flight with a trauma patient onboard. Mr. Brotons' dedication to this project and his assistance in the coordination of the many phases required in order to get this program "off the ground" merits this award as Employee of the Month.
