Weekley, Sr. operated Fausto's Food Palace from 1945, when he returned from serving in World War II, until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was active in the Key West Chapter of the American Cross and a member of the Hurricane Preparedness Committee. WEEKLEY. SR. WHEREAS, Carl W. Weekley, Sr. passed away on July 28, 2002, at the age of 93 surrounded by his family; WHEREAS, Carl was born in Moultrie, Georgia and moved to Key West in 1945 after his military service; WHEREAS, Carl and his wife Ana operated Fausto's Food Palace from 1945 until his retirement in 1992; WHEREAS, Carl was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Red Cross Hurricane Preparedness Committee; WHEREAS, Carl is survived by his beloved wife Ana, three sons Carl, Jr., Jimmy, and Alton and their families; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA: Section 1: Hereby adopts this Resolution as an expression to the family of their deepest sympathy in the passing of the late Carl W. Weekley, Sr. and in great appreciation of the service he gave to his community. Section 2: Forwards a copy of this Resolution to Carl's beloved family expressing the Board I s sorrow. WEEKLEY SR. Carl W Weekley Sr., 93. passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Florida Keys Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was born on Aug. 6, 1908, in Moultrie, Ga. He is survived by Ana. his wife of 58 years, his three sons and their wives: Carl Jr. and Ann of Lake Placid, Fla., Jimmy and Su- san of Key West; Weekley and Alton and Beverly of Dover, Fla.; grandchil- dren: Jimmy and Cayce Weekley of Chattanooga, Tenn., Nikki Weekley of Lakeland, Fla., Dakin Weekley of Olympia. Wash., and J Weekley of, Dover, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, his nephew, C. Wayne -Simons af Haines City, Fla., close cousins Hoyt and Doris Smithwick of Albany, Ga.; other cousins and friends. He was preceded in . death by his parents. James and Beulah Weekley, his children, Dennis and Patricia, and his sis- ter, Corinne Simons. Carl served in the U.S. Navy duringWoildWar II with assign- ments in Key West and the .Pacific. After his military service, he returned to Key West He and Ana operated Fausto's Food Palace from 1945 until his retire- ment in 1992. Carl was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also participated in the KeyWest Chapter of the American Red Cross as a member of the Hurricane Preparedness Com- mittee for many years. Visiting will be held from 6-8 p.m., with a rosary service at 7 p.m., today at St. Mary's Church. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 30, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Internment will follow at the Big Coppitt Key Cemetery. Dean and Sons Funeral Home of Big Pine Key is in charge of arrangements. Flowers can be delivered to St. Mary's Church between 2 -5 p.m. today. .\
