AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Appointment of Kathleen Fischer to the Library Advisory Board
to replace Alice Skinger, who has resigned the post.
ITEM BACKGROUND: Alice Skinger resigned from the post in September 2002. Her term was
to expire January 1, 2003. Because of Commissioner changes, this appointment has been held
pending seating of the newly elected District 4 Commissioner. The appointment will be a new
appointment to begin January 2003 for a full 4-year term, to expire January 2007.

Kathleen Fischer moved to the Florida Keys as a permanent resident three years ago. She
is an avid reader and has volunteered herl time to the Islamorada Library, has been a
donating patron of the Library, and has become a member of the Friends of the Library.
Recently she was elected to the Layton City Council. One of her duties will be to serve
as Layton's wastewater liaison to the Intergovernmental Task Force and the County on
wastewater issues.
She is a retired registered nurse, and lives in Layton with her daughter and her family.
