Approval to advertise an ordinance revising definition of Aluminum Specialty
Contractor to include vinyl and plastic products.
ITEM BACKGROUND
The Aluminum Special Contractors often also incorporate vinyl and plastic products into
their work in a manner which affects the integrity of the underlying structure. Lice'nsed
contractors have established appropriate skills and knowledge through the licensing process,
and it is in the interest of safety and welfare of the public that people without that skill and
knowledge not be allowed to contract to do such work.

AN ORDINANCE REVISING SEC. 6-56, DEFINITION OF ALUMINUM
SPECIALTY CONTRACTOR TO INCLUDE VINYL AND PLASTIC PRODUCTS AND
REQUIRING LICENSURE FOR THE INSTALLATION OF CANOPY FRAMES;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ALL
ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR
INCORPORATION INTO THE MONROE COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
FLORIDA:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY,
Section 1. Sec. 6-56(12), Monroe County Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
