She brought with her: 1. Four years experience in the nursing field 2. Associates Degree in Drafting and Tool Design She acquired much more during her Employment in Monroe County: . Florida State Certified Emergency Medical Technician . Florida State Certified Fire Safety Inspector . Graduated from the University of Cincinnati, Cum Laud with a degree in · Fire and Safety Engineering Technology . Fire Safety Instructor from Miami-Dade Community College Through a continual pursuit for excellence she has obtained the following certifications that have provided the technology and background to enhance her position as Safety Administrator: . Certified Public Manager, Florida State University . Certificate in Supervisory Management . Advanced Safety Certificate, National Safety Council . And more She has trained Monroe County Fire Fighters in hazardous material response. She has been guest speaker for South Florida Hurricane Conferences and the National Hurricane Conference. She headed up the Sheltering Task force to ensure the shortfalls encountered from Hurricane Georges were addressed for future events. She has provided training in occupational safety, fire prevention education, hurricane evacuation and preparedness and exposures to chemical and biological hazards for the volunteer fire fighters, employees, senior citizens and children in Monroe County. In her 15 years she has produced and implemented the First Hazardous Material Emergency Response Plan, the first Occupational Safety and Health Program for V olunteer Fire fighters, Revisions of the Monroe County Safety Program, Asbestos Management Plan, Playground Inspection Program and Shelter Program including Florida's first Refuge of Last Resort Program. She has provided her services to our county employees with compassion, enthusiasm, and a feeling of ownership of our community, our county government and a concern for each and every one of our employees. Her job description requires her to ensure our employees are working in a safety and healthy environment and to provide a safe place for the public. She is always evaluating procedures to find unique and innovative ways to effectively improve the safety of our County Employees and the public.
