A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN INCREASE IN MONROE COUNTY'S STATE HOUSING
INITIA TIVES PARTNERSHIP (SHIP) PROGRAM'S MAXIMUM SALES PRICES.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
The Monroe County SHIP Program provides housing assistance to very-low, low and moderate-income
homebuyers, homeowners and renters through a variety of housing assistance programs. To
successfully implement this program an increase in the SHIP Program maximum sales price, as defined
by F.S. 420.9071(27), is necessary for Monroe County. The proposed SHIP maximum sales price is
consistent with maximum sale price limits defined in F.S. 420.9075(4)(c). It is proposed to increase the
SHIP program maximum sales price to $257,000 for existing units and $270,000 new construction units.

A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN INCREASE IN MONROE
COUNTY'S STATE HOUSING INITIATIVES PARTNERSmp
(SHIP) PROGRAMS MAXIMUM SALES PRICES.
WHEREAS, it is the desire of Monroe County to continue to successfully implement the Monroe
County State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program providing financial assistance to the
County's very low, low and moderate-income residents for the purpose of buying, improving or building
affordable housing, and;
WHEREAS, without an increase in the SHIP Program maximum sales price Monroe County could not
successfully implement the Monroe County State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program, and;
WHEREAS, the average sales price of existing single family homes far exceeds the current SHIP
Program maximum sales price, and;
WHEREAS, the Florida Housing Finance Corporation has previously conducted a market study required
under Florida Statute 420.9075(4)(c) necessary for Monroe County to increase the existing SHIP
Program maximum sales price.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, that the County hereby:
Approves and adopts an increase in Monroe County's State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP)
Programs to $257,000 for existing units and $270,000 new construction properties. Said Resolution is
incorporated into the State Housing Initiatives Partnership Program's Local Housing Assistance Plan
for fiscal years 2001-2002,2002-2003,2003-2004.
PASSED AND ADOPTED, by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida at a
regular meeting on said Board on the _ day of , A.D., 2003
