As such, Monroe County could be in jeopardy of losing annual Emergency Management Base Grant funding from the Department of Community Affairs. The Pre -Disaster Mitigation Competitive Grant is a new federal program intended to encourage state and local governments in carrying out activities designed to reduce or prevent the effects of natural and man-made disasters in those communities.
