Dent Pierce, Division Director DOCUMENTATION: Included X To Follow Not Required DISPOSITION: AGENDA ITEM # Memorandum To: Dave Koppel onroe County Engineer From: Laurie Mc e, Land Steward g Date: 17 April 2003 Re: Road closures, Largo City subdivision Largo City subdivision is located at MM 104 oceanside. The MCLA is acquiring a number of lots in the subdivision because most parcels contain high quality hammock vegetation, and the whole subdivision abuts Florida State Conservation and Recreational Lands property to the south. Please see the attached plat sheet and aerial photograph for orientation. There are three locations I would like to propose blocking due to continual problems with solid waste dumping and the associated impacts to the natural forest community: • Robert Street at its intersection with the southern side of Esther Street • Esther Street at its eastern intersection with Pamela Street • Cliff Street at its intersection with Taylor Drive Robert Street south of Esther dead ends at the state conservation lands. The road is paved, and hidden from view by the dense hammock, making it a prime location for dumping solid waste. Esther street east of its intersection with Pamela Street is a dirt track that extends into hammock and curves northward, changing into Cliff Street and exiting onto Taylor Drive. The dirt road is routinely used as a dumping ground. There are no developed lots along any of the roads proposed to be closed, and much of the adjacent land is in public ownership. Please let me know your opinion on closing these three roads. If you have any questions, I can be reached at x7112.
