EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
DECEMBER, 2003
MARGY McMENNAMY
Since Margy has been employed with Monroe County, she has def"mitely been
a strong asset. We can see her work as the Sr. Grants Acquisition Administrator
through grants she has researched and helped each applicant obtain. These grants
include $104,000 from Public Safety Foundation of America for emergency service
to 9-1-1 callers using cell phones (Monroe County Emergency Communications). A
grant from Florida Department of Health for $122,895 for Emergency Services
support (Monroe County Fire Rescue). A grant in the amount of $575,328 from the
US Department of Health and Human Services to be used for outpatient early
intervention services with respect to HIV disease (Monroe County Public Health
Department).
She has created and published the Grants Bulletin which informs persons of
funding opportunities. This bulletin is now distributed to over 100 interested
Monroe County Divisions, Community Organizations, Education Agencies, Medical
Facilities and individuals. She has formed a Grants Team in order to have staff
throughout the County trained to assist in bringing money to Monroe County.
She is working to establish a Federal Legislative program that will facilitate
receipt of grant funding on the Federal level, has taught Grantsmanship training
classes to several Monroe County groups and is the Manager of the "Art in Public
Places" .
She works with agencies such as Just 4 Kids, Florida Keys Council of the
Arts, Rural Health Network, SHAL, Guidance Clinic of the Middle Keys, FKCC
College Explorer Program, Monroe County Schools, along with many Departments
within Monroe County. We are truly pleased to have Margy as a Monroe County
Employee and are proud to be here today to recognize her efforts by presenting her
with the Monroe County Employee of the Month Award.
