ITEM BACKGROUND: Of the total grant programs implemented for the 2002-2003 funding cycle, only three were
chosen in Florida as Exemplary Projects for their excellence in program planning, implementation, and evaluation, with
special emphasis on outcome measurement. The project developed by the Monroe County Public Library was highlighted
as exemplary in the State of Florida DLlS (Division of Library and Information Services) 2003 Program Report submitted
to the Institute of Museum and Library Services

2002-2003 Library Services and Technology Act grant program as an Exemplary Project. Your
project was highlighted as such in the Division's 2003 Program Report submitted to the Institute
of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
Of the total grant programs implemented for the 2002-2003 funding cycle, three Prob1fams were
chosen as Exemplary Projects. The projects chosen highlight excellence in program planning,
implementation, and evaluation, with special emphasis on outcome measurement. Your
commitment to providing quality programs is acknowledged and appreciated by designation of
this distinct honor.
Exemplary Project designees include: Broward County Division of Libraries for Afierschool @
Your Library; Monroe County Public Library System for LibraJT Services for Limited English
Proficient Hospitality Workers; and College Center for Library Automation for Collaborative
Statewide Live Reference: CCLA and TBLC Working Together.
