However, a little known fact is that Mary Ann started her career with Monroe County government in 1984 with the Clerk of the Court's office. With the opening of the Jerry Ellis Building in 1987, Mary Ann jumped at the opportunity to test her skills as well as her sanity by becoming an elite member of the Building Department staff. After 8 months of fun-filled workdays, attempting to keep up with the ever-changing state and federally mandated regulations; Mary Ann packed up her things and bolted for Orange County, FL where she obtained a Position with the Clerk's office. By 3/13/89, Mary Ann resigned from Orange County and was back where she belonged in the Monroe County bUilding department. Over the past 15 years, Mary Ann has sUlVived many changes of management and management styles as well as the ever- changing POlicies, procedures and building codes. Mary Ann has excelled at all phases of the permitting process under less-than- perfect conditions, and has SUccessfully completed courses and obtained certifications above and beyond her job responsibilities. Having said all that, we would like to congratulate Mary Ann for her stamina and perseverance and thank her for 15+ years of dedicated selVice to Monroe County.
