and Accepted Masons.

A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY IN
RECOGNITION OF THE LATE JACK TATE MURRAY
WHEREAS, Jack Murray passed away on August 30, 2004 at the Key West Convalescent Center; and
WHEREAS, Jack Murray was born on December 22, 1921 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, the son of Arthur and
Ruth (Bearden) Murray; and
WHEREAS, Jack Murray graduated from Key West High School where he met his wife of 62 years, Alice
Aguilar Murray, the pair being voted the best looking couple in the class of 1940; and
WHEREAS, Jack Murray served in the U. S. Navy during WW II, returning to Key West where his career
included CBS Construction, Key West Brick and Tile, his eventual Vice-Presidency of First Federal Savings and
Loan, and his ownership ofIsland City Flying Service and Seaplanes of Key West; and
WHEREAS, Jack Murray spent many years serving on the Key West Housing Authority Board, he was an
active member of The Military Affairs Committee, the former President of the Jaycees, and a 50-year member of
Anchor Lodge 182 Free and Accepted Masons, to name just a few of the community organizations with which he
was involved; and
WHEREAS, Jack Murray is survived by his beloved wife, Alice Aguilar Murray, his sister, Donna Fugua
of Riverside, California; his daughters, Jacquelyn dePoo, Cynthia Sellers (David), and Ruth Smith Marsden; his
grandsons, Paul dePoo Jr. (Marsha), Peter Sellers (Cathy), Jason Sellers (Anne) ofChattahoochee, Florida, and Nick
Smith; his great-grandsons, Paul Tate dePoo, Damien Sellers, Hunter Sellers, Chase Sellers and Davis Murray
Sellers, and nieces and nephews; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA:
Section 1: Hereby adopts this Resolution as an expression to the family of their deepest sympathy in
the passing of the late Jack Murray, and in great appreciation of the service he gave to his community.
Section 2:
Forwards a copy of this Resolution to the family of Jack Murray expressing the Board's
sorrow.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, at a
meeting of said Board held on the 20th day of October, A.D., 2004.
