Award Citation
October 20, 2004
The Florida Keys Council For People With Disabilities is pleased to present its Award for
Outstanding Service to disabled persons in Monroe County to the Key West Pedestrian
Action Committee.
This award recognizes the important contributions of this volunteer organization in
improving the safety and accessibility of Key West for disabled pedestrians, Since its
founding in 1998, the P.A.C. has brought the public and government together in a
consistent effort to improve the "walk ability" of Key West.
In addition to markedly increasing the awareness of pedestrian needs, the P.A.c. was
instrumental in encouraging the Palm Avenue Improvements which created foot,
wheelchair and bicycle access between Garrison Bight and Old Town, Key West. Their
steadfast support for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act has helped to
remove many of the barriers and safety hazards that are the bane of our disabled
pedestrians,
On behalf of the disabled citizens of the Florida Keys this plaque is presented with
sincere gratitude for your achievements.
