A RESOLUTION BY THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS PROHIBITING THE PARKING, STANDING OR
STOPPING OF VEHICLES ALONG THE COUNTY RIGHTS OF WAY ON A
PORTION OF BEACH ROAD FROM THE INTERSECTION OF BEACH
ROAD AND EAST BEACH ROAD WEST TO THE INTERSECTION OF
BEACH ROAD AND FIRST STREET (APPROXIMATELY 750 FT.), AND A
PORTION OF FIRST STREET, FROM THE INTERSECTION OF BEACH
ROAD AND FIRST STREET TO THE INTERSECTION OF FIRST STREET
AND PARK AVE. (APPROXIMATELY 420 FT.), OCEAN PARK VILLAGE,
TAVERNIER, FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Monroe County Code Sec. 25-27, the Board of County
Commissioners may restrict or prohibit the parking, standing or stopping of vehicles along
county roads; and
WHEREAS, Beach Road and First Street are county roads located in Tavernier; and
WHEREAS, the roads lead to Harry Harris Park. which is a county park with a boat
ramp in a residential neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, park users frequently park vehicles with boat trailers on the shoulder of the
roads and on the bicycle lane along the roads, which is causing traffic flow and safety issues; and
WHEREAS, the designated no parking area would be posted with "No Parking" signs as
required by Sec. 25-27, Monroe County Code;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA THAT:
1. The portion of the Beach Road from East Beach Road to First Street and the portion of
First Street from Beach Road to Park Ave., Ocean Park Village Subdivision, Tavernier,
Florida, shall be designated as a no parking, standing or stopping area.
2. The designated area shall be posted with the appropriate "No Parking" signage as
required by Monroe County Code Sec. 25-27. The signage will also include the
noncriminal civil penalty, which is currently set at$200.00.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida,
at a regular meeting held on the 18th day of August, 2021.
