Agenda Item Wording: Approval to purchase No Name Key parcel on Bimini Drive (RE #108120-
000800) for conservation.
Item Background: This acquisition is proposed to protect property rights and natural resources. The
subject parcel is located within the Conservation and Natural Area designated by the BOCC in
Resolution 346-2003 as well as the State Coupon Bight/Key Deer Florida Forever boundary. The
property is a 0.2-acre canal lot zoned Improved Subdivision with primarily scarified vegetative
conditions.
Land stewardship needs for this property are anticipated to be moderate due to nearby development
and the need to plant native vegetation on the site.
The Executive Director has executed the Land Authority's standard purchase contract for this
transaction. The agenda packet spreadsheet lists the legal description, purchase price, and estimated
closing costs.
Advisory Committee Action: On February 23, 2005 the Committee voted 4/0 to approve this
purchase.
Previous Governing Board Action: On February 10, 1999 the Board approved a contract to
purchase the subject property for $24,408 but the transaction failed to close due to a title defect. The
title defect is now corrected.
Contract/Agreement Changes: Relative to the contract approved by the Board in 1999, the seller has
changed from Dominick Pagano to Florida Title Company and the purchase price has increased from
$24,408 to $30,000.
