EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
NOVEMBER 2004
JOSEPH STICKNEY, III
CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR, ENGINEERING DIVISION, MARATHON
Joseph Stickney, III, began working with Monroe County in the Recycling
Department on January 13, 1998. In September of 1998, he was assigned to the
Facilities Maintenance Department. On August 1, 2000 he transferred to the
Engineering Department as a Construction Inspector. Since that time Joe has brought
many projects to a satisfactory completion for Monroe County, but recently he was
given the responsibility of two extremely demanding projects - the Palm Avenue Paving
and Bike Path Project and the Stock Island Roads II Project. During the course of these
projects, Mr. Stickney met and exceeded his responsibilities to the public by responding
to all inquiries by anyone living or passing through the construction areas.
Coincidentally, the Stock Island road project and the Stock Island sewer project
were conducted at the same time and in the same area. Mr. Stickney coordinated these
two projects to eliminate conflicts between the two contractors. He immediately
responded to all complaints, questions and inquiries with whatever action was
necessary to resolve the issues in question.
The Engineering Division has received numerous phone calls and letters of
commendation praising Mr. Stickney's performance as a Monroe County employee. We
are extremely proud to recognize Joe as Employee of the Month for November 2004.
