ITEM BACKGROUND: In an effort to reduce impact to the taxpayer we are looking for alternative funding sources. A user based system files claims with insurance companies. Cost recovery from insurance companies can be an effective strategy in assisting fire departments in maintaining adequate budgets. It is estimated that 40-85% of our vehicle accidents involve non residents.
