In order to solve this problem my Office has secured permission from the Department of Transportation to place an antenna at their Tea Table Tower location. The cost estimates from Motorola for engineering, program management and equipment are approximately $496,000. At the present time, we have secured a grant from the Department of Homeland Security in the amount of $158,000 to apply toward the project. I would like to request your support in funding the remaining balance of$338,000 from the Interagency Communications fund. Our radio system is used by a number agencies and is, in my opinion, a model for interagency cooperation. The following agencies are currently using the system: Agency # of Radios on the System Sheriffs Office/Public Safety FBI KCB Police Key West Fire Dept. Key West P.D. County Communications Monroe County Fire Rescue Monroe County Public Works (Jail) Probation & Parole U.S. Boarder Patrol U.S. MarshaUs Office County Social Services Key West Code Enforcement 342 9 6 36 147 11 4 9 7 18 1 26 4 ~ fi'~. In addition, the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority (124 users) and Keys Energy Service (100 users) are presently negotiating with my Office to begin using the system. Any assistance you can provide regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated Sin/~ . /L & /...M--t aJ...J:- - . Richard D. Roth Sheriff, Monroe County
