RECOGNITION OF THE LATE DR. RERMAN K.MOORE
WHEREAS, Dr. Herman K. Moore, aka "HK;" passed a,vay on July 7, 2005; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Moore. born in Macon,Georgia,Jnl5?17,l1:IaJried Rose Appel and lived and practiced
medicine in Key West for 43 years before .I1i5retirement in 1989; and .' . . . .
WHEREAS, Dr, Moore was ayeI)' active memberhf Congiegation B'naiZion and its driving force in
constructing its sanctuary iIi 1969, as 'wellas an active member of III any professional and rnic orBanizations,
including the Key. West Heart COWlCil, Monroe CQunty Medical Society, the local chapter of Arcturus, Key West
Lions Club, and the Sculpture Coimnittee ror the Historic Mcn16rJal Sculpture Garden at Mallory Square; Key West;
and
WHEREAS, Dr. Moore received many awards, two of his most cherished being the Achievers Apollo
Award from the Lower Keys Heart Council in .1993 and the Florence Spottswood Humanitarian Award front the
Lower Keys Branch of the Red Cross in 1996; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Moore was a dedicated general surgeon and.primary care physician. deli'V"eIlng many
babies and littending to 1Us patients 24/7; and .
WHEREAS, Dr. Moore's bimonthly coluttms in the'Key West Citizen entertained the readers'withl1is
unique hori1esvuu style; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Moore is SUf\>ived by bisfive children: Janet Kas&, Dr.. David Moore;. LitldaEstroff,
Qu-ol Fischman, and Dr. Richard Moore, as well as numerousgr;;mdchildren, a brother, Irwin Moore, and sister. Iris
