ITEM BACKGROUND: The position was advertised due to the vacancy resulting from Ms. Mary
Thacker's resignation.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: On September 8,1999, the Board of County
Commissioners passed an Ordinance providing for the appointment of "At Large" members to the
District Advisory Committee by the Board of County Commissioners.

professional educator for more than thirtv vears at the elementary, middle and
hiqh school levels t have developed successful strategies and award winning
programs in my fjeld, Since joinino the community as a part time resident-
property owner,1989, and full time resident, 1999. I have been actively involved in
Monroe County and the City of Marathon Community. My service to our
community includes: Development of the award winning conservation proqram at
the Marathon Garden Club, 2003, Outstandino Volunteer Award UFL, 2005 and
Creation of the Wonder Garden Series 2005. The series has been nominated for
an award at the University of Florida Master Gardener Convention in October. I
also serve as former staqing director and current Vice President of the Middle
Keys Concert Association. The outstandino series of concerts presented in
collaboration with groups in Key West and Key Laroo attracts thousands of
attendees, I currently serve on the Scenic Highway Committee and have been
active Iv engaged in developinQ a destination Garden at the Marathon Garden
Club. Having participated in The Five Year Review of the Marine Sanctuary Plan,
2000, volunteered with The Nature Conservancy and Audubon Society Hawk
Watch, sang with the San Pablo Choif and the Community Theater Chorus and
serve' on the City of Marathon Affordable Housfng Committee, et al. I have
deve(oped a familiarity with community issues and aspirations that will serve the
Tourist Development Council well as we develop viable, enQaoing experiences
that will promote dynamic economic Qrowth.
