My positions at VNA and Hospice and my participation with Leadership Monroe County allowed me to work throughout the Keys. I know that our great quality of fife-- restaurants, shops, heater, culture, attractions--are here because of our thriving tourism industry. The tourism industry grows the local population, as those employed in that sector then need teachers, doctors, nurses, fire-fighters, police, etc, which creates more jobs for people to serve those workers. I do also see the challenges that tourism, as the largest and main industry in the Keys, creates:the high cost of housing which deters many workers from building careers here, a transient work force, and the impact of so many visitors on those who live here full time. E Tourism was a positive force of economic change for Key West and Monroe County in the early 20th century, and it remains the 0. core of our prosperity. I want to serve on the Key West DAC to participate in supporting tourism in the City and the County. It is 0. hat makes living here so special.
