MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
RESOLUTION NO. 398 —2021
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING COUNTY
COMMISSIONER MICHELLE COLDIRON AND HER FLORIDA
ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES SECOND VICE PRESIDENT CANDIDACY.
WHEREAS,Monroe County Commissioner Michelle Coldiron has participated in Florida Association of
Counties(FAC)programs since her election in 2018; and
WHEREAS,Commissioner Coldiron graduated from the Florida Association of Counties ("FAC")
Certified County Commissioner program in 2019,the Advanced County Commissioner Program in 2020,
and the Advanced County Commissioner 2 program in 2021;and
WHEREAS, Commissioner Coldiron has sat on the FAC Board of Directors for 2020-2021 and 2021-
2022; and
WHEREAS,throughout the course of her term as a Monroe County Commissioner she has been a
member of multiple FAC policy committees including the Health, Safety and Justice Policy Committee
and currently as Vice Chair of the Water and Environmental Sustainability Committee; and
WHEREAS, Commissioner Coldiron intends to run for FAC's Second Vice President seat in June 2022
preceding the Annual FAC Conference in Orlando for a one-year term, on a glide path towards President
of FAC and in doing so seeks the approval and support of the Monroe County BOCC;and
WHEREAS,any eligible Commissioner wishing to run for a FAC office is required to formally declare
his/her candidacy by May 15 of the year of the Annual Meeting scheduled for that year,and the
commissioner's declaration of candidacy must be in writing and sent to the Executive Director of the
Association; and
WHEREAS,Commissioner Coldiron wishes to continue representing Monroe County through the
Florida Association of Counties with eventual FAC Presidency with full support of the BOCC; and
WHEREAS,the Board of County Commissioners recognizes the value of her continued service as
FAC's Second Vice President;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA SUPPORTS COMMISSIONER
MICHELLE COLDIRON IN HER CANDIDACY FOR THE FLORIDA ASSOCIATION
OF COUNTIES SECOND VICE PRESIDENT SEAT.
