MEMORANDUM
DATE: 10-Dec-2020
TO: County Administrator
THRU: Director, Project Management
FROM: Matthew Howard
SUBJECT: Release of Owner Contingency for: Plantation Key Courthouse & Detention
Center
Action Requested: Approval for release of project contingency funds in the
amount of $ 158,594.66 as outlined below.
Basis for Recommended Action:
1. The requested release does not increase the total cost of the project as approved by the
BOCC.
2. The scope for which the release is requested is within the intended project scope.
3. The release is not based upon an error or omission by the designer or the general
contractor.
Background:
The existing courthouse at Plantation Key has two buildings integrated into its structure, Courtroom B
and the Detention Center. Both Courtroom B and the Detention Center will be demolished and as a
result, will leave large holes in the exterior of the existing courthouse. Earlier this year the County
asked CSA Architects to develop a set of plans that define the build back required to allow the existing
courthouse to remain structurally sound as well as be protected from the elements. CSA Architects
delivered the plans in October of 2020. The attached proposal shows the detailed cost break down of
the work Biltmore will perform.
