SUBJECT: Proposed Change Order to be Approved
Attached is proposed Change Order#1 for the Marathon Tax Collector Building Hurricane Repairs
project. This change order increases the final contract sum by $2,718.00. The substantial completion
date is increased 77 days.
Monroe County Ordinance 027-1998 and subsequent amendments provide authority for the
Administrator to approve change orders within specified limits after providing Board of County
Commissioners with at least 24 hours to review them and pose any questions or objections that they may
have.
It is the Administrator's intent to approve the attached change order under that authority on Tuesday,
December 14, 2021.

Detailed description of change order and justification:
Upon commencement of the repair work, it was determined by Monroe County staff that the damage
extended more than 50% of wall thickness on both the North Wall Tie Beam and the Southwest Comer
Column. As a result, the Contractor was directed that both areas were to be completely replaced per the
original contract terms which necessitates acceptance of both,alternate#1 in the amount o
and,alternate#2 in the amount of$684.00. The original substantial completion date was October
2021. Due to permitting delays and the additional work, an additional 77 days was added to the contract.
Change order is 4% of original contract price.
