Update on the upcoming Oil Spill Safety Training for Volunteers in the Florida Keys.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
HAZWOPER, (HAZardous Waste OPerations and Emergency Response) training, is the minimal
safety standard required for volunteers to assist during a pollution incident such as an oil spill.
This One day training is now being offered free of charge sponsored by the USCG, USCG Auxiliary,
and Monroe County Emergency Management. All classes are offered on Saturdays; begin at 9:00 AM
and end at 400 PM. A certificate of completion is awarded at the end of the training at each of three
convenient locations.
