James first began his employment as an Animal Control Officer. In 1998, he transferred to Unincorporated Parks & Beaches as a Maintenance Worker, and in 2004, he was promoted to his current position as Weighmaster at the Key Largo Transfer Station. James is very dependable and knowledgeable in his position as Weighmaster; he is friendly to and helpful with the public and he keeps operations running smoothly and efficiently. James has been an umpire for Little League baseball for 20 years, a Little League basketball referee for 14 years, and he also oyes fishing when he has the time. Mr. Bates is an asset to Solid Waste Management and Public Works, and we are very proud to recognize him for his 20+ years of reliable and devoted service to the County.
