AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Discussion and direction for the installation of payment application
software for parking at the County parks and beaches.
ITEM BACKGROUND: Monroe County Parks & Beaches is exploring opportunities to assist
with collection of fees for parking at some of the County parks and beaches. One suggestion would
be use of a parking payment application software. A parking app will allow for seven (7) days
operation/collection and assist with staffing needs. This payment application program may be able
to eliminate the need for use of fee collection kiosks at some parks, thus allowing staff to be re-
assigned to other recreational areas as needed. Staff is researching the applications to determine if
they could also be used for a potential reservation system as well. If the BOCC approves moving
forward with utilizing the use of a payment app software program, staff would additionally request
approval to advertise an RFP, if necessary, and/or approval to solicit services for installation of a
payment application software system and enter into a contract in accordance with the Monroe
County Purchasing Policy and Procedures.

the software, but the program would continue to generate parking fees similar to funds derived at
the current kiosks at County parks.
