WHEREAS, home care services provide high quality and compassionate health care services to
those in need, especially at time of community or personal health care crisis; and
WHEREAS, home care is the most preferred method of health care delivery among disabled,
elderly, and chronically ill individuals eager to live independently in their own home as long as
they possibly can, and
WHEREAS,the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice of the Florida Keys offers the highest
quality of care to patients and families in Monroe County; and,
WHEREAS, Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of the Florida Keys brings comfort, love and
respect to all those they serve in our island communities; and,
WHEREAS,the VNA/Hospice team consists of hospice and home care professionals- including
physicians, nurses, social workers, therapists, counselors, health aides, and chaplains-providing
comprehensive and compassionate care that make the wishes of each patient and family a
priority; and,
WHEREAS, trained volunteers generously contribute their time and talents to VNA/Hospice;
and,
WHEREAS,these dedicated home care and hospice professionals and volunteers form a support
network that continues to play a vital role in health care delivery for our communities' disabled,
infirm and aging population; and,
WHEREAS,the provision of quality home health, hospice and palliative care reaffirms our belief
in the essential dignity of every person regardless of age, health, spiritual belief,sexual
orientation or social status; and that every stage of human life deserves to be treated with the
utmost respect and care;
NOW,THEREFORE be it resolved, I, George Neugent. Mayor of Monroe County do hereby
proclaim November 2013, as
National Hospice and Home Health Care Month
and encourages all people to learn more about options of care and to share their wishes with
family, loved ones and the healthcare professionals.
