Firefigher Bertini has demonstrated outstanding community activity and commitment that meets the criteria of this award. His efforts in coordinating, organizing, and participating with the "Relay for Life" event held in Key West has provided a positive impact on the Fire Rescue Department and the community. In addition, Firefighter Bertini was responsible for successfully organizing and participating in a car wash to help raise funds for the cancer foundation. Firefighter Bertini performed most of these efforts on his own time in order to benefit the community he lives in, and the Fire Rescue Department. The group of Monroe County Firefighters he assembled was very successful in providing a favorable outcome for the community by raising $3,216 for the fight against cancer. Firefighter Bertini always displays a friendly, positive, and enthusiastic attitude that sets a positive tone for our work environment. His work ethic and community service involvement is greatly appreciated not only by his superiors, but his peers. Firefighter Bertini is a true asset to the county and the Monroe County Fire Rescue Department.
