ITEM BACKGROUND: Setback of existing front fence line to Key Largo Animal Shelter property does not permit enough room for parking at front of the facility. Development of an accessible route and entrance to the existing facility is not feasible unless enough space can be allocated for accessible routes or parking. Florida Department of Transportation has deemed said right of way land"Surplus" and has agreed to deed said land to Monroe County as an accessible public entrance to the existing facility. The October 17, 2012 agenda item, C46, included an incorrect Exhibit"A"which is to be corrected in this Agenda Item. PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: On regular meeting dates of August 15t`2012 and May 16`"2012 the Board of County Commissioners Approved and authorized the Award of Contracts for ADA Accessibility Segments 1 and 2 to begin construction on the scope of work developed in the ADA transition plan for Monroe County facilities as a result of the Americans with Disabilities Act assessment previously conducted on Monroe County Facilities authorized by the Board of County Commissioners. On October 17, 2012 the BOCC approved Item C46, a Resolution and accepted a Quit Claim Deed from the FDOT for the purpose of constructing ADA accessible parking spaces at the entrance of the Key Largo Animal Shelter, these documents attached an incorrect Exhibit"A"and this agenda item corrects the error and attaches the correct Exhibit"A". In order to move forward with this request I will need the County to provide: 'I) A Sketch and Legal Description of the parcel to be conveyed, as shown in the attached Guidelines for Surveyors. 2) A resolution adopted by the Monroe Board of County Commissioners which identifies the proposed public purpose use of the property requested and the expected resulting benefit to the public.
