A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA,
IN RECOGNITION OF THE LATE VINCENT M. DROST.

WHEREAS, Vincent M. Drost, a long-time resident of the Florida Keys, has passea
away on May 30, 1997; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Drost received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1932 and a MCI!Ster of Art\....

Degree in 1934 from the University of Michigan; and
WHEREAS, before coming to the Florida Keys, Mr. Drost was the chief chemist for
Continental Motors in Michigan and was also a licensed real estate agent in Michigan;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. Drost and his beloved wife Wilver moved to Cudjoe Key in 1957, and
from that time he dedicated himself to the development of Cudjoe Gardens and also
was very active in the improvement of Monroe County in general; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Drost donated the property in Cudjoe Gardens on which the Sheriff's
substation was built, which was dedicated to the late William Freeman. He also
donated other property to sell to get the funds to build the substation; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Drost was a member of the Elks and a member and supporter of the
Sugarloaf Key Volunteer Fire Department and the Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranches; NOW,
THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY,
FLORIDA that
Section 1. The Board hereby adopts this Resolution as evidence of its regret and
mourning for the passing of the late Vincent M. Drost and in recognition of his extensive
dedication and vast public service to the people of Key West and Monroe County.
Florida.
Section 2. The Board hereby requests the Clerk to forward copies of this
Resolution to Mr. Drost's family, to express the Board's sorrow.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, at a regular meeting of the Board held on the 18th day of June, 1997.
