to
NORMAN HANEY
Norman Haney began working for Monroe County on February 18, 1992. He was
first employed as an entry level Paint and Auto Body Mechanic and has since worked his
way up and now serves as a Heavy Equipment Mobile Mechanic based out of the county's
Key West Lower Keys garage.
Every day Norman saves the county dollars and minimizes equipment downtime as
most of the work he does is on large county trucks and heavy equipment that would
otherwise have to be transported to and from service centers located and spread out all
over mainland South Florida.
Norman is not just a mechanic; he's a painter, welder, steel fabricator, and truck
driver, as well as a parts, service, computer and electronics technician, all required in order
to service, repair and document work performed on vehicles and equipment that are
utilized daily by the county and other agencies.
Norman has much desire to master new technologies that are changing every day.
He has been known to take home repair manuals, compact discs and other items in order
to read, study and overcome a challenge which results in the Fleet Department being more
efficient and more cost effective.
Norman is highly skilled, is most dependable and has been complimented by just
about every County department and agency that utilizes Fleet's services.
Because of his consistent performance and dedication, we are very pleased to
recognize him today as Monroe County's Employee of the Year for 2011 and also for
attaining 20 years of outstanding service to Monroe County.
