AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Resolution approving the list of Monroe County's capital and
planning grant applications for the "Resilient Florida" grant program in 2022.
ITEM BACKGROUND: This resolution provides support for the capital grant applications and one
planning grant application that County staff anticipates submitting under the state Resilient Florida
grant program for 2022. A signed copy of the resolution will be submitted as part of the applications.
A resolution in support of the remainder of ghe Resilient Florida planning applications was approved
at the June 15, 2022 BOCC meeting.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION:
July 21, 2021: Discussion and direction in the formulation of a grant application strategy for the
"Resilient Florida" grant funds this year.
August 18, 2021: Approval of the proposed grant applications for the "Resilient Florida" grant
program.
June 15, 2022: Discussion and direction of the potential capital projects applications to be submitted
under the "Resilient Florida" program for 2022.
June 15, 2022: Resolution to support the County's planning grant applications under the "Resilient
Florida" grant in 2022.

MONROE COUNTY TO APPROVE THE GRANT APPLICATIONS AND CN 1-
AUTHORIZE THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR TO SUBMIT SUCH 0
APPLICATIONS WITH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION FOR THE RESILIENT FLORIDA
CAPITAL GRANTS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND FOR 2
OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection has a grant program pursuant to Section
380.093, Florida Statutes known as the "Resilient Florida" program; and
WHEREAS, the Resilient Florida grant program provides funds to local governments to undertake capital
resilience projects addressing flood risk with and without match requirements; and
WHEREAS,the Monroe County Board of County Commissioner seeks to apply for fifteen road adaptation U-
capital grant applications, three shoreline adaptation capital projects and one revised planning application
for the vulnerability assessment update; and

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners for Monroe County approves the applications and
authorizes the County Administrator to submit the applications under the 2022 Resilient Florida program. 2C=
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY 0
COMMISSIONERS, FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS:
