A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA,
CONFIRMING THE COUNTY'S SUPPORT AND ABILITY
TO PROVIDE THE LOCAL FUNDING SHARE
NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT THE FLORIDA
RECREATION DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
IN WHICH THE COUNTY ELECTS TO PARTICIPATE IN
THE FUNDING FOR THE BERNSTEIN PARK UPGRADE
PROJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, Bernstein Park is a Monroe County owned and maintained park located on
Stock Island, Florida; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) has
established an application submission cycle for acquisition or development of land for public
outdoor recreation; and
WHEREAS, the FRDAP grant application submission period is August 1, 2022, through
August 31, 2022, for the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 application cycle; and
WHEREAS, eligible applicants include all county governments and incorporated
municipalities of the State of Florida; and
WHEREAS, Monroe County is able to serve as a local sponsor and has the ability to
provide the local funding share necessary to implement the FRDAP projects in which the County
elects to participate.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Recitals. The recitations set forth above are hereby incorporated by
reference herein.
Section 2: The Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County ("BOCC")hereby
supports the efforts of the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP), for the
Bernstein Park Upgrade Project and for which funding is requested from the State of Florida.
Section 3: The Bernstein Park Upgrade Project shall commence in the year 2023 and
is expected to cost$400,000.00.
Section 4: The BOCC is committed to amending the capital improvement plan or
schedule in order to complete the project should it receive program funds.

Section 5: The BOCC affirms its ability to serve as local sponsor and its ability to
provide the appropriate local funding share to implement this FRDAP project.
Section 6: Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida at a regular meeting of said Board on the 17th day of August 2022.
