AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval of a resolution to write off $38,064.52 from County,
Public Works Departmental accounts, to be absorb by the Solid Waste Management fund and
$236.74 in uncollectible business accounts, for a total of$38,301.26.
ITEM BACKGROUND: Monroe County Solid Waste and other County Public Works
departments work together to provide health and safety for the residents of Monroe County. Through
maintenance of vegetation along streets and roads, trash/garbage, illegal dumping cleanup collection
to include boat ramps and roadside recreation areas. For many years intra-county department
accounts were charged when debris was brought to the transfer stations, from the Public Works
Department. The Monroe County Solid Waste Management Department recommends absorbing the
cost($38,064.52) of such debris as a part of the non-ad valorum assessment goes towards the
support of community services as described above. The remainder write-off amount($236.74) is due
to a one bankruptcy and one unknown proof of charge ticket.
