ITEM BACKGROUND: This is for approval to enter into negotiations for a contract for the canal 90 backfill restoration project as part of the County's canal restoration program. The Canal ranks 411 on the canal restoration-ranking list under the Canal Work Plan and the construction work on the canal (backfilling) was estimated at $729,511.93, Canal 490 is located between Hilson Court and Ivanhoe Court in Hammer Point Park on Key Largo, Florida. . The Request for Proposals was issued on May 26 2022. Proposals were opened on July 14, 2022 and the following proposals were received: RESPONDENT BID AMOUNT SELECTION RANK Adventure Environmental, Inc. $1,081,000.00 42 Arbor Tree and Land, Inc. $ 990,638.75 41 The selection committee met in a public meeting on August 1, 2022 and ranked Arbor I" and Adventure Environmental 2ad. Negotiations will be conducted in rank order. This work is funded by FDEP Stewardship Grant LPA0241. The Canal 490 Backfilling project is a continuation of the canal restoration program in accordance with the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) canal restoration work as detailed in the Canal Work Plan of the Monroe County Comprehensive Plan. The project backfilling activities are to be completed so that a natural benthic community can be established. Adventure Environmental Inc. — The proposal response was the best formatted of the group. AEI has plenty of backfill experience, and has performed several projects for the County. The pricing was the lowest of the responses. The response listed the wrong number of days, 240 instead of 140. They have experience more in dredging rather than backfilling, but are qualified to perform the work. Public Comment: No members of the public were present. After public comment, the members deliberated a final time, completed their score sheets, and announced their scores and final ranking took place.
