ITEM BACKGROUND: On February 20, 2013, the County entered into an agreement for legal services with George Helm, III, P.A., outside counsel for workers' compensation cases. Paragraph 5 of the agreement stated that partners would bill at the rate of$130 per hour and paralegals would bill at the rate of$75 per hour. The firm's rates have remained unchanged since that time. This amendment proposes to raise the hourly rates to the following: partners -- $154, associates -- $132, and paralegals -- $93. The firm produces good quality work for the County and the proposed rates are in line with fees charged by other Florida firms in this line of work.
