A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA,
PROVIDING POLICY DIRECTION ON THE LOCATION OF
PUBLIC HEARINGS FOR CONSIDERATION OF TEXT

WHEREAS, the Monroe County Board of County Comffi'sst6nei g
("BOCC") wishes to ensure that citizens of unincorporated Monroe Cc1eintYha\'8 ~
adequate opportunity to voice their concerns to the Board about proposed text
amendments to the Monroe County Comprehensive Plan ("Plan") and Land
Development Regulations ("LDRs") ; and.
WHEREAS, the BOCC recognizes that holding public hearings on such
text amendments in Key West reduces the opportunity for a great majority of
citizens affected by these proposed amendments to attend meetings that are 50
to 100 miles away; and,
WHEREAS, Section 9.5-21 (g) of the Monroe County Land Development
Regulations grants the BOCC discretionary authority to specify the location for
hearing such items as text amendments to the Plan and LDRs; NOW
THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1. The BOCC directs Growth Management staff to schedule public
hearings for consideration of text amendments to the Plan and LDRs only at
Marathon and Key Largo.
Section 2. The BOCC affirms that it may, at its own discretion, direct the
Growth Management staff to schedule public hearings for consideration of text
amendments to the Plan and LDRs at Key West when particular circumstances
warrant.
