BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA,
Section 1. That the following recommendations of the Affordable Housing
Joint Task Force are hereby adopted:
a) That the Monroe County Land Authority utilize Preservation 2000 funds for
property rights and environmental acquisitions wherever possible, thereby maximizing
the Authority's other funds for affordable housing acquisitions.
b) That the Legislature provide for five years an annual $150,000 legislative
appropriation seed money to establish and support community land trusts throughout
Monroe County for the purpose of providing community-based, resident controlled,
permanently affordable housing. This funding should be modeled after the State's
Community Development Corporation's Support and Assistance Program and should
be administered through the Board of County Commissioners.
c) That the Legislature amend Chapter 380, Florida Statutes, to allow the
expenditure in any Area of Critical State Concern of 1/4 cent from the first two
pennies of the Tourist Development tax for a period of five years for the construction
of new affordable employee housing and redevelopment of existing housing.
Section 2. The Clerk of the Court is hereby directed to send a certified copy
this Resolution to the local legislative delegation.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe
