RESOLUTION NO. 294 -1997
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY,
FLORIDA, URGING THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE TO ADOPT AN APPROPRIATE SET OF
INCENTIVES TO ATTRACT AND RETAIN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY IN FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the film, television, commercial production, music and other facets of the
entertainment industry are becoming increasingly important elements of the Florida economy; and
WHEREAS, the entertainment industry is composed of clean, non-polluting businesses that
employ growing numbers of Floridians in stable jobs at good salaries, thus adding to the overall stability
and attractiveness of Florida I s economy; and
WHEREAS, the presence of a thriving and glamorous entertainment industry adds considerable
luster to Florida's already strong image as a desirable place to work, live and visit; and
WHEREAS. there is a tremendous competition among local communities and states throughout
the nation wishing to attract the entertainment industry to their respective jurisdictions through the use
