DISPOSITION: John Gish Employee of the Month December, 1999 John Gish has been selected as Employee of the Month for December. Mr. Gish has been employed in the Welfare Program for Social Services as a Social Worker since June of 1996. Mr. Gish is well known in the community as a very effective and compassionate Social Worker. Many agencies actively network and refer their clients to him for service. Mr. Gish not only is a very faithful Monroe County employee, but also is very active in the community, as well. He is a member ofSt. Paul's Episcopal Church, where he was a founder of the Arts Project and Integrity Key West, and he is a member of the Chancel Choir. He has sung in several local productions and has written many articles for local publications. He is a past trustee of Literacy Volunteers, a member of Lambda Democrats, and is currently a Committee Chair and on the Advisory Board of the Gay and Lesbian Community Center. Mr. Gish goes out of his way to take care of some of the most difficult and most needy clients. When County funds are unavailable; he seeks out resources within the Community to meet the client's needs. During the past year, due to staff resignations, illness within the program and an additional energy grant following Hurricane Georges, Mr. Gish has far exceeded maintaining a normal case load. In some months his caseload has been three times normal expectations. He maintained the highest caseload and rendered the largest amount of welfare service countywide. He collected over thirteen thousand dollars in . reimbursements to the General Fund, which was 22% of the reimbursements for the y~ar. Weare very grateful to have such a talented and dedicated employee working for our Welfare program.
