CUBA COMMITTEE
The TOe's 'Opening of Cuba report' identified the potential impacts of the
opening of Cuba and for the purpose of developing a marketing stc ategy.
At the October 18,1999 meeting of the Cuba CommittE:e, Commissioners
McCoy, Reich and yourself agreed that an inter-govemmentaJ committee be
formed to address the issues contained in the report which will ultimately impact
both the City of Key West and Monroe County, It was felt tf lat to best address
the complexities of the many issues brought fotwar.:J in the report.
representatives from both City and County governments mUit participate if the
overall program is to be successful.
If you are still of the opinion that a cohesive inter1JQvemmentcl' committee of key
personnel is the best approach to this iS$U8, we would 86k that you bring the
matter before the Board of County Commissioners for their i~ut and direction as
to the appropriate County personnel to attend the upccming meeting on
Tuesday, January 25, 2000 at 2:00 p.rn, to be held at the CasEI Marina Resort.
