WHEREAS, Reynold leaves to mourn and cherish many wonderful memories, his

beloved wife, Shirley, his family, his many friends, and fellow workers; and
WHEREAS, Reynold was born in Key West on May 30, 1918, was educated in Dade
and Monroe County, and graduated from Douglass High School in 1938; and
WHEREAS, Reynold was a faithful and devoted member of the Cornish Memorial
A.M.E. Zion Church, serving in the choir and on numerous boards and committees; and
WHEREAS, Reynold served as exalted ruler with the Coral City Elks Lodge 610 for a
number of years; and
WHEREAS, Reynold was as an employee of Monroe County where he served faithfully
and avidly for 36 years; and
WHEREAS, County Commissioner Wilhelmina Harvey, who served with Mr. Mingo for
about fifteen of his thirty-six years, said that Mr. Mingo was very loyal to his government, and
served to safeguard the Court House on Whitehead street even after his retirement in 1985;
and
WHEREAS, the County flew the Monroe County Court House American Flag at half
mast in honor of this much appreciated veteran; and
WHEREAS, Reynold was a highly regarded member of the community, known for his
love of family, friends and community; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Board hereby adopts this Resolution as evidence of its regret and
mourning for the passing of the late Reynold Mingo, Jr. and in recognition of his extensive
dedication and vast public service to the people of Key West and Monroe County, Florida.
Section 2. The Board hereby requests the Clerk to forward copies of this Resolution
to his beloved widow, Shirley Mingo, to express the Board's sorrow.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held on the 9th day of September, 1998.
