RESOLUTION NO. 385 -1999
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF A CHECK TO THE
FLORIDA KEYS EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION, INC.
WHEREAS, the estate of Richard E. Rekoendt bequeathed to the County a total
of $54,639.76 to be used by the Social Services Department for projects which serve the
public as suggested by the decedent's friend Bernie Brown;
WHEREAS, pursuant to Mr. Brown's suggestions, a little more than half of that sum
has been utilized; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brown has now requested that the remainder be placed in an
endowment/scholarship fund at the Florida Keys Community College;
WHEREAS, the Florida Keys Educational Fundation, Inc. will match the funds to
provide student financial aid, awards for scholarship, leadership, special achievement
and outstanding teaching, and other college programs and activities which benefit the
community; and
WHEREAS, contribution to the endowment fund is expected to generate learning
opportunities for Social Services employees which will ultimately benefit the clients of
that department;
NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA that

Section 1.
The funds remaining from the Richard E. Rekoendt bequest. to wit:
$25.581.71, be paid to the Florida Keys Educational Foundation. Inc. to be placed in an
endowment or scholarship fund.

County. Florida. at a regular meeting of the Board held on the 12th day of
