Ordinance 038-1996Mayor Shirley Freeman ORDINANCE NO. 038 -1996 AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AMENDING SECTION 2-282, SUBSECTIONS (a) AND (b); REVISING THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDINP -� FOR THE REPEAL OF ALL ORDINANCES INCONSIST yT HEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION INTO m _ MONROE COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES; AN PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE Cs ry BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Of MONR02COLMTY, r, FLORIDA, THAT: Section 1. Section 2-282, subsection (a), Monroe County Code, shall be revised to read as follows: Section 2-282. Membership and organization. (a) Each council member will be charged with the responsibility of serving the best interest of the arts in the county within the purposes of this article; and no council member shall view his or her council role to be that of representing any particular geographic area of the county, interest group, arts institution, community organization or audience. Section 2. Section 2-282, subsection (b), Monroe County Code, shall be amended to read as follows: Section 2-282. Membership and organization. (b) The council shall consist of f„rteep,, twenty 1201 members chosen by the County Commission. There shall be four (4) members representing each of five [ districts, which shall have the same -geographic boundaries as the County Commission districts. The County Commission shall select the council members from the qualified electors residing in Monroe County who have general knowledge of all of the arts, with specific and in-depth emphasis on one (1) or more of the arts, and who have had active involvement in the arts. Section 3. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, item, change or provision of this ordinance is held invalid, the remainder of this ordinance shall not be affected by such invalidity. Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 5. The Clerk of the Board is hereby directed to forward a copy of this Ordinance to Municipal Code Corporation for incorporation into the Monroe County Code of Ordinances. Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon receipt of official notice from the Office of the Secretary of State of the State of Florida that this ordinance has been filed with said Office.
